Eric Galton
Texas Mediator Credentialing Asssociation’s Outstanding Credentialed Mediator for 2025
From Jeff Jury, who presented this award to Eric Galton:
Mediation-a profession, a movement, or both? Eric Galton has been instrumental in building one and driving the other in
Texas and beyond. Eric met beloved Judge Frank Evans when serving as Chair of something called the State Bar Citizen Legal Education Committee back in the day. From there, Eric’s story is the story of the mediation movement: managing and chairing early Settlement Weeks; creating the first Peer Mediation program for Austin schools, then taking the program statewide through the Bar; authoring a book about representing clients at mediation in 1991, followed by five additional books exploring not only mediation techniques, but what it means to be a mediator, inspiring us all to be better; numerous articles and continuing education presentations; board leadership from the Texas Association of Mediators to The International Academy of Mediators; educating the next generations of mediators at the University of Texas Law School and many other trainings throughout the world; and challenging all of us to keep growing. Regardless of the development, whether it was changes in the marketplace for opening sessions, decline in civility in dialogue in society, or changes caused by the COVID pandemic, Eric was at the forefront of adapting mediation to the era, always defending, embracing, and expanding the mediation profession and the movement, bringing all of us with him.
Eric Galton-always helping others learn, walk, and live the path of Peace.
